Hip Knox, an Eye, and a Nipple walk into a bar....

So this guy Hip Knox wears a shower cap and in this caper, a queer machine, with a suggestive yoni slash lingam at his crotch and on his chest, an eye.  It's in the middle, but in this shot it appears to replace a nipple.  This eye-nipple connection is something we've covered quite a bit, but here we just present this example for your pleasure.

Hip Knox himself is a pretty crazy comic book hero, but instead of reinventing the wheel, check out this article.  An injured baby is left on the doorstep of a scientist who experiments on said baby, giving him hypnotic powers he uses to defeat and subsequently humiliate his nemesis -- making him flop about on the ground like a fish, for example. Weird stuff.

Be sure to check out previous posts covering the theme of the eye and the nipple

#JeSuisCharlie III: Solidarité

Both the NYT and WaPo are part of my daily news-gathering routine, so they are often both open in my navigator.

I captured this screen-shot quite by accident while trying to figure out how the "Imp écran" (French keyboard!) button works best when there's a second screen (vital when I do translating work) jacked into my laptop.

Anyway, seeing this image pop up unexpectedly made me feel compelled to follow the dictates of chance and share it.

The Gid and I don't want to live in a world where we censor ourselves out of fear -- either fear of insulting someone or fear of reprisals.  I'll go out on a limb and guess most artists and writers feel the same aversion.  So, in solidarity with our extended tribe, on the day Charlie Hebdo bravely hits the newsstands, we'll say "Je Suis Charlie" -- "Nous Sommes Charlie" -- here on LoS one last time.

It ain't much, but it's something.

ZOG!

Here's a film still from 2009's Astro Boy.  Rumor has it that they originally wanted to name the robot "Elder of Zion" but ultimately went with "Zog" instead....

I wonder if the makers of this film were aware of the "ZOG" conspiracy theory and decided it wasn't a PR problem -- ZOG's a pretty fringe idea after all -- or whether they were completely unaware of the word's use in far right circles?

And yeah, I know, Astro Boy is a sixty-year-old manga so I'm not implying some sort of subliminal racist mind fuckery or evil intentions.  I just think it's amusing.

It's pretty out of date now, but I'd had this image on my hard drive for years and just stumbled across a reference I'd made to ZOG in a comment on Gid's Gog and Magog post, so here ya go.  For something meatier, I'll have the following up within a week or so:
